OVAL

Face appears longer than wide, rounded chin and forehead.

Most frame styles look good on this face shape. The frame should be in proportion to the face.

ROUND

Round chin and full checks. Face is circular.

Play down roundness by selecting frames with angular or straight lines. Dark colors will also minimize fullness.

RECTANGLE

Long face with square chin.

Frames should cover center of face to minimize the length. Decorative and/or contrasting temples will add width to the face making the face appear shorter and well balanced.

SQUARE

Long jaw line, square chin with a broad forehead.

Narrow frame styles and frames that have more width than depth and narrow ovals will make the face look longer and soften angles.

TRIANGLE

Broad forehead tapering down to a narrow rounded chin.

Frames that are wider at the bottom and light colors minimize the width at the top of the face.

DIAMOND

Narrow forehead and chin with wide cheekbones.

Frames that have detailing, distinctive brow lines such as cat eyes or ovals will highlight the cheekbones and eyes.

Selecting Colors that Complement You

Determining the best color palette for your skin, eyes and hair color:

Skin tone is the prime element in determining coloring. A warm complexion has a peaches and cream or yellow cast. A cool complexion has blue or pink undertones. An olive complexion because of its mixture of yellow and blue is considered cool.

Eye color is secondary in determining coloring. Warm eye colors range from pale blue gray to light golden brown to medium brown. Cool eye colors are blue to light violet to a soft black.

Hair colors are also considered warm and cool. Strawberry blond, platinum, blue-black, white, salt and pepper, and brown are considered cool. While golden blonde, flat black, brown gold, red and grey are warm colors.

For warm colors when selecting frames, look for frames in camel, gold, peach, copper, khaki, orange, coral, red, warm blue and blonde tortoise. If your coloring is cool consider frames in black, blue gray, plum, pink, magenta, rose brown, jade, blue and dark tortoise.

Lens and Coatings

Scratch Resistant Coating

Scratch resistant lens are coated on the front and back with a clear hard coating. Although no lens material is scratch proof, scratch resistant coating offers more protection from scratches than non-coated lens.

Anti-Reflective Coating

Anti-reflective coating reduces both internal and external glare reflections on the lenses. Internal reflections appear as rings that make glasses look thick and external reflections mask your eyes from a clear view when someone is looking at you. They reduce the glare, reflections and halos around lights, making them excellent for night driving. With anti-reflective coating you have a better cosmetic appearance and the lens appear thinner or non-existent.

Ultraviolet Treatment

All our tint packages and polycarbonate lens come with ultraviolet protection. Ultraviolet protection is like sunscreen for your eyes, it protects your eyes from harmful UV rays. Overexposure to ultraviolet light is thought to be the cause of cataracts, retinal damage and other eye problems. Ultraviolet can be added to plastic lens for an additional charge.

Polycarbonate Lens

Polycarbonate is the most impact-resistant lens. We recommend that children are put in polycarbonate lens due to their ability to hold up under impact and they are a safer lens for active children. Polycarbonate lens are also thinner, lighter and include ultraviolet protection built in the lens. When combined with anti-reflective coating they are the perfect choice for someone with a high prescription or thick lens.
